It’s super cold! (I’m thinking about hot chocolate as I’m typing this)..  Don’t ask why I’ve decided to put on an evening gown! I thought the deep emerald color of the dress complemented the deep cherry red from the jacket. I just used basic color theory to pair complementary colors 🙂 and I thought it turned out okay! 🙂 I’m still trying to figure out how to stay warm and stylish at the SAME TIME. its either I look like a large warm marshmallow with legs, or I’m fashionable, and getting hypothermia. help! winter go away!!

Outfit of the Day: Modern Egyptian

I absolutely love pairing a bright color with neutral shades. Bright color provides a nice contrast to neutral tones like the black and white in my skirt. Yes, the skirt is very busy and printed. I’m crazy.  I understand that. Guilty is charged!

A Blast to the Past: Current 50’s Trends

Let’s bring back that Old Hollywood glam with a head scarf, circle skirt, and Mary Jane pumps.

The vintage head scarf was commonly seen on housewives and women of the 50s. Today, this accessory makes a cute statement, and is an easy way to fix a bad hair day!

headcarfcollagephoto: silhouette of the circle skirt is very figure flattering. The waistband will make your waist appear smaller, and the flare of the skirt will mask any stomach imperfections. It’s a flattering style for any woman, of any shape. This style originated from Dior’s New Look trend in the 50s. I paired this with Mary Jane pumps and round frame sunglasses, which are also iconic vintage trends still seen

I enjoy Giambattista Valli’s take on 50s glam. His Fall 2014 couture runway show consist of beautiful dresses that resemble the silhouette of the flared circle skirt. The models wore headscarves, and round frame sunglasses, displaying that 50s accessories can be revamped!

Fall 2014 Trend Prediction

Is everyone ready for Fall 2014?

I’ve been researching what will most likely be seen on the streets of Toronto this season. While scouting through my closet, I pulled some of my own garments that emulate these trends as accurately as possible. Pull out your bright pinks, royal blues, over-sized fur jackets, and gold accessories! It’s time to FALL in love with these new funky statements.

My cropped top and skirt inspiration came from Chanel (center) and color inspiration came from Kenzo (left) and Dior (right).

Who doesn’t love a fuzzy warm element to their outfit when the harsh winds emerge? I would definitely pair this combo with an over sized fur jacket or vest. The Designer of the pink fur jacket below is MSGM. The closest alternative to this would be my black fur vest from Urban Outfitters by the brand: Staring at Stars.

Even try a fur collar! The less exaggerated version of the fur collar on this coat by Sacai, was a cardigan from Costa Blanca.

This lovely outfit by: Thakoon, pairs pink with blue nicely. These two colors contrast well and stand out against each other. To incorporate blue, I wore my crystal necklace from H&M.

These trendy gold belts are a great way to make a plain outfit pop! My gold belt inspiration came from Roksanda Ilincic. Gold really contrasts well against about anything!

And there you have it! My summary of what you should look out for this upcoming season. Stay tuned for more trends I will be reviewing and replicating!
